“THE CHARLATAN” AT ROYAL
An unusual and entertaining picture of society seances, and the craze for mysticism now at the Royal Theatre, Kingsland, in "The Charlatan,” a Universal production based on the famous Broadway stage success of that name. Holmes Herbert, Rockliffe Fellowes, Margaret Livingston and Fred Mackaye are seen in the principal roles. The story concerns the weird events following the staging of a fortune-tell-ing party at the home of one of the society leaders of a certain American city. The Hindu mystic, played by Holmes Herbert, becomes tragically involved in the tangled heart affairs of the several couples attending the seance. The startling results make gripping drama. “Figures Don’t Lie,” the second feature. is an amusing comedy-drama of mannequins and fashion parades, stari ring Esther Ralston and Richard Alien.
