JUST OUT OF GAOL
UNDESIRABLE DEPORTED HAD AUSTRALIAN RECORD Released from gaol this morning, William Thomas Youlden appeared at the Police Court where, on the application of the Customs Department, an order was made deporting him from the Dominion. The charge against Youlii* n was that he landed in New Zealand on May 21. less than two years after serving a term of imprisonment for an offence, punishable in New Zealand by imprisonment for two years or upward. He pleaded guilty. Mr. J. Mclntosh, for the department. said that Youlden had just completed a term of three months for the conversion of a car at. Hamilton. He had arrived in New Zealand on May 31 under the name of Thomas. On August 7, 1925, at Adelaide, he had been sentenced to 12 months’ imprisonment for attempted larceny from the person. The department asked that a deportation order be made and that Youlden be placed on board a ship returning to Australia. Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., acted accordingly and an application for bail was refused.
