NEW COAL-MINE

SEAM AT AVOCA (From Our Own Correspondent) DARGAVILLE, Monday. An inspection of the newly-opened coal mine at Avoc-a yesterday showed a seam of fully 10ft of really good quality coal. Borings taken show that the seam is of an extensive nature and that there is every indication of the seam lasting for many years. The first lot of coal is to be brought out this week. It is understood that sufficient orders have already been received to keep tile mine going for some months and that in the near future, when | the mine is fully developed and road j communication is brought up-to-date : a large number of men will be ern- . ployed.
