“DEATH BY MISADVENTURE”
GELIGNITE DRYING ON FIRE Press Association DANNEVIRKE, Monday. At an inquest concerning the death of Mr. Michael Culloty, contractor, who was killed at Oringi, near Dannevirke, last Wednesday, it was stated that an employee put 20 plugs of gelignite in a kerosene tin, which was placed on tho embers of a fire for the purpose of warming. The employee then went from the tent, leaving Mr. Culloty sitting on a bunk. An explosion occurred soon afterward. Mr. Culloty’s right thigh was severely lacerated, and he died soon after from haemorrhage and shock. In returning a verdict in accordance with the medical evidence, the coroner, Mr. Dobson, said it was a case of misadventure.
