In the Market Place
BANANAS DEARER ORANGES KEENLY SOUGHT Shortening of supplies of bananas in the City Marts has caused a rise in value in the past few days. A quantity of the fruit was brought to Auckland from the Islands by the Tofua this morning, TSLAXD oranges of medium size are in excellent demand, and prices have risen. There is a poor sale for oversize varieties. Citrus fruit will arrive today from Australia and sales will be made tomorrow. Grapefruit Plentiful New Zealand grapefruit and lemons are now heavily supplied. Poorman oranges ore plentiful, too, but are attracting little attention. Barrels of California seedless white grapes are now offering. All lines of dessert and cooking apples are in good demand, but pear celarances remain dull. The heavy supplies of cabbages and cauliflowers have caused an easing in rates. Potato values are slightly easier.
