BUSY DAY RESULTS IN GAOL Starting off a busy day yesterday by stealing 12s 6d from a shop till while the proprietress was looking the other way, William Campbell Wilson went on his way and removed a rug from a. shop doorway in Victoria Street. This morning at the Police Court, Wilson pleaded guilty to two charges of theft. The rug which was valued at 13s 6d was the property of William Pearson, and the money was taken from a shop in Grey Street and belonged to Margaret Sims. According to Chief-Detective Ham mond, the man had been caught by a constable after leaving the shop with the rug. He had a fairly good list of convictions for theft and vagrancy. He had been before the court twice during the last month. Sentence of a month’s imprisonment was imposed on the first charge.
