SYDNEY WELCOMES MEMBERS OF CONGRESS DISTINGUISHED VISITOR SYDNEY, Monday. The delegates to the Australian ledical Congress, which is to be ijened tomorrow at Sydney University, were tendered a civic reception it the Town Hall today. The Chief Civic Commissioner, Mr. iohn Garlick, cordially welcomed the \ew Zealand representatives. He lirected attention to the fact that the nlantile death rate per 1,000 in the Sydney metropolitan area is now only 15.3, compared with 71 when the concess last met here in 1911. The wage death rate is only 9.3 per I,WO. Sir Ewen Mae Lean, immediate past resident of the British Medical Association and vice-chancellor of the diversity of Wales, fittingly acknow?dged the welcome on behalf of the antral council of the association. At the opening sitting there will he ’•discussion on the question: “What s being done in Australia toward 'ancer research?’’
