TWO MINERS INJURED
KNOCKED DOWN BY LORRY (From Our Own Correspondent) WIIANGAREI, Monday. Knocked down by a motor-lorry on Saturday evening two miners. John Davidson and Joseph Boyd, of Kamo, were admitted to the Whangarei District Hospital with extensive injuries. Mr. Davidson received abrasions to his face and head and six ribs were fractured, and there were other injuries. Mr. Boyd’s injuries consisted of a wound on the forehead, his left ear was nearly torn off, and he had numerous abrasions. The men were returning home after spending the evening with Mr. Boyd’s brother and had just crossed the railway line at Ruatangata when the accident took place. The lorry was driven by Mr. George Richards, of Whangarei. COLLISION AT WHANGAREI (From Our Own Correspondent) WHANGAREI, Monday. An accident occurred at Maungakaramea this morning, when the Whangarei Dairy Company’s lorry driven by L. Woods collided with a smaller truck driven by J. Walker. The larger vehicle was only slightly damaged, but the smaller one had the front portion badly smashed. Neither driver was injured.
