ROYAL SHOWS “THE CHARLATAN”
Two entirely different but most enjoyable films make up the current programme at the Royal Theatre, Kings - land. The first is “The Charlatan.” the tale of a mysterious Hindu crystal-gazer starring Holmes Herbert. The story tells of a man whose wife left him and who took up the practice of fortune-telling at fashionable society functions. One afternoon, when he was dressed in his, Hindu costume, his former wife came to him for advice. The film.abounds in exciting and spectacular incidents. The second feature is entitled “Figures Don’t Hie,” and stars the beautiful actress Esther Ralston in an amusing comedy-drama of fashion and mannequins. Adolphe Menjou sings for the first time before an audience in his new all-talking picture, “Fashions In Love.” Victor Schertzinger. director of the photoplay, also composed the music for the song, the words for which were written by Leo Robin.
