Mr. Stanley Bruce, addressed the Chamber of Manufacturers in Sydney this evening. lie annunced that the Federal Government was not desirous of casting any additional burdens upon industry. Owing to the temporary trade depression now being experienced it had decided to leave in abeyance its proposed schemes of national insurance and child endowment. Mr. Bruce emphasised the need for a greater application of science to industry if Australia wished to hold her own against foreign products. He remarked upon the remarkable recovery Germany had made by the adoption of that principle.
