■burying some 120 persons. Firemen, troops and volunteers quickly began rescue work, brought out 10 dead and 45 seriously injured. There is little hope that the many others will be alive when the debris is cleared.

Forty-two bodies of adults and IS bodies of children were recovered from the building which collapsed at Algiers.
