CHARITY CARNIVAL
PROGRAMME OF NIGHT SOCCER PROCESSION IN CITY A carnival arranged for this evening by tli© Relief Committee of the Auckland tramways will be in aid of the funds lor the Rev. Jasper Culder and ; rfisttr Esther's City .Mission work. It will be the first of a series of car- ! nival s. The Transport Social Club and the ! Tramways Union are represented on I th© Relief Committee. It has been i formed to heip benevolent institutions. A procession has been arranged as a preliminary to the principal carnival attractions at Klandford Park. The procession will leave Quay Street at ! 7 p.m., and decoi-aiec ana Illuminated ; cars will proceed up Queen Street and [ Wellesley Street East to the park. Th© Ponsonby Boys’ Brass Band. the Waterside Workers’ Band, and the * Pipe Band w ill head the procession. ; which will include collectors in fancy I costumes. Tho Transport Board will provide vehicles lor the procession. An event at the park will be a burlesque football game between fanci-fully-costumed teams. Mr. Calder will captain one side, and will be referee also. Women will meet in seven-a-sid© Soccer in a game between members of the Hotel and Restaurant Workers’ Club. Mr. Calder will conduct community singing at the interval. Tho main game at the night's Soccer will be an interesting clash between Tramways, the champion team of Nciv Zealand, and Navy. Both sides are excellent.
