THAMES CLUB

A SUCCESSFUL YEAR , The lt>th annual meeting- of the Thames Jockey Club was held at Thames on Thursday. The president, Mr 11. Lttvc, reported that the receipts lor the past year's working, including a credit balance o£ £73u carried forward from the preceding year, amounted to £9.553 and the expenditure to £ 3.255, leaving a credit balance of £204. The sum of £2,630 was paid in stakes and £2,705 in Government taxes. Considerable alterations had been effected to the totalisator house, which had been extended and an additional machine installed. This had proved a great benefit to patrons, as with a separate machine for the inside and outside enclosures the previous congestion had been greatly minimised. The club was indebted to the Thames Trotting Club for its financial assistance toward this work. The revenue from grazing on the racecourse amounted to £239. Pe-int To Be Considered Discussing the report, Mr. E. Ft Adams said the weakest point in the balance sheet was the takings at the inside gate, which showed that nearly 1,000 people did not pay for admission at the last race meeting. The question of complimentary tickets would have to be seriously considered. Mr. E. J. Clendon said he had every reason to believe that the question of the issuing of complimentary tickets would be taken up by the country racing clubs at their coming meeting and he thought it better for this club at present to leave further discussion until after the meeting of the country racing clubs. The following officers were elected: President, Mr. H. Lowe; vice-president, Mr E. Clendon; treasurer, Mr. A. C. Rae; executive committee. Messrs. Clendon. Rae, Lowe and Whiteheadjudge. Mr. F. J. McManemin; handicapper, Mr. W. P. Russell; starter. Mr. C. O’Connor; timekeeper, Mr. W. P. Buiek; clerk of course, Mr. .1. McCormick; clerk of scales, Mr. IT Whitehead; stewards. Messrs.
