Britain to Produce Sound-Film Budgets Close co-operation between Britain and the United States in the production of talking news film bulletins will result from the formation of a new company to be known as British Movietone News Company, Ltd. This company will have entire control of the. news reel of that name, which was recently launched in London by the Fox Film Company of America. It was this news-reel organisation that secured the historic talking film of the new Labour Cabinet immediately after the General Election. The Hon. Esmond Harmsworth is taking a substantial interest in the new company and will have the appointment of the editor who will con trol its policy. The majority of the board of directors will be British and will be chosen with the view of ensuring that the most up-to-date journalistic methods will be employed by the new company. The technical staff, which is now being collected and trained, will also he entirely British. The Fox Film Company of America and Mr. Harmsworth are in agreement that their joint enterprise shall have an entirely British character. The importance of this is increased by the fact that British Movietone News Company, Ltd., will supply to the Fox Film Company of America all the British talking news films to be circulated by the latter company throughout the world. British Movietone News Company, Ltd., will also receive from the Fox Film Company of America a constant supply of the talking news films which iliat organisation obtains from other countries.
