LOAN PROPOSALS TOTAL £128,700 POLUNG DAY SATURDAY A poll of the ratepayers in the Mount Roskill district is to be taken tomorrow between 9 a.m. on a proposal to borrow the sum of £66,700 for the permanent construction in concrete of Mount Albert and Three Kings Roads and laying down bituminous pathways on each side. The Main Highways Board has agreed to grant a subsidy amounting to £15,619 toward the cost of paving Mount Albert Road from the Royal Oak to the board’s boundary with the Mount Albert borough, a. distance of three miles, which will reduce the board’s liability for this particular highway to £46.381. The balance of the loan is to be expended on Three Kings Road. It is also proposed to borrow a further sum of £62.000 for draining the western area of tho district, including £3.000 for advances to ratepayers to assist them to connect with main sewers. Only the ratepayers in the western drainage area will vote on this proposal. The rate of interest- on both loans is fixed at 55 per cent, with sinking funds of 3 5 per cent., over a term of 30 years, except that the term of the loan for advances to ratepayers is 10 years. The security on the road loan is a rate of one and three-sixteenths of a penny in tho pound spread over the whole district, while that for the drainage loan is five pence and five-eighths of a penny on ail rateable property m the western drainage area. Tho polling places are:—Methodist Hall, Kingston Avenue; Mrs. Brown’s shop. Dominion Road; Chamber of Commerce, Swanson Street; board’s office. Mount Albert Road: Methodist Hall, Pah Road: Cantelin’s garage, Pah Road; Baptist Hall, Richardson Road.
