MYSTERY FILM AT ROYAL
The silent version of the talkie thriller. "The Canary Murder Case,” is now being screened at the Royal Theatre, Kingsland. The plot concerns the murder of a notorious chorus girl known as “The Canary.” Six men had both the motive and the opportunity to commit the deed, and the amateur detective Philo Vance is called in to eliminate the unlikely ones. The suspense is cleverly maintained until the very end and it is not until many obstacles have been overcome that the real culprit is found. Among the players is "William Powell as Philo Vance, James Ford. Jean Arthur, Charles Lane and Louise Brooks. “Honeymoon Hate,” the second feature, stars Florence Vidor in a delightful comedy-drama of an American girl’s romance in Venice.
