PERSONAL. —It is reported by the incoming masters of Home vessels that the well-known master, J. J. Cameron, of the Remuera. has retired from the services of the New Zealand Shipping Company. Captain R. Hay is to transfer shortly from the Arahura to the Ngaio in place iof Captain A. Wildman, who will take j charge of the Arahura.
Captain Yasta, of the Nikau. is to succeed Captain Pearson, of the Rata, to enable the latter master to go on holiday leave.
GOLDEN CROSS FOR SOUTH.—In continuation of her voyage from the Pacific Coast, the O. and O. Line’s steamerGolden Cross leaves Auckland next Tuesday for Wellington and Lyttelton. SURREY LEAVES CURACAO.—The Federal Line steamer Surrev, which left Wellington or. August 1 for London, is reported to have cleared Curacao on Tuesday. KAITOKE AT GLADSTONE.—Advice by cable has been received by the Union Company that the Kaitoke arrived at Gladstone on "Wednesday to load coal for Wellington. She is to clear the Queensland port on September 4. TOFUA LEAVES SUVA.—Cable advice received by the Union Company states that the Island steamer Tofua left Suva at 12.30 p.m. yesterday for Auckland, where she is due on Monday with passengers, mail and cargo from Tonga, Samoa and Fiji. lONIC LEAVES COLON.—Cabled news has been received by the Shaw, Savill and Albion Company that the liner lonic left Colon last Saturday afternoon for Southampton and London, en route from Wellington. The vessel sailed from Wellington on August 3. KENT AT LONDON.—A cable message to the New Zealand Shipping Company reports that the Federal steamer Kent arrived at London on Tuesday from Auckland. The vessel left Auckland on July 19 for London and West Coast ports of Great Britain. KAIRANGA LEAVES NEWCASTLE.— Cabled news has been received by the Union Company that the Kairanga.’ from Port Kembla, left Newcastle at midnight on Tuesday with timber and coal for Wellington. She is due there next Monday. THE KAITANGATA.—TIie Union Company has received cable advice that the lvaitangata, from South Australian ports, left Melbourne at 3 p.m. on Tuesday for Hobart to complete loading for Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington and Auckland. She is expected to clear Hobart tomorrow. MANUKA LEAVES MELBOURNE.— Cabled news has been received by the Union Company that the Manuka left Melbourne at 10.30 a.m. on Wednesday for Bluff, Dunedin, Lyttelton and Wellington. She is due at Bluff on Sunday, at Wellington on September 6, and will leave again the following day for Melbourne direct. SCOTSCRAIG RADIOS.—A. G. Frankhahm, Ltd., has been advised by radio that the steamer Scotscraig is due at Auckland at 8 a.m. tomorrow from Galveston, Texas. .She is bi'inging n cargo of sulphur for discharge at Auckland, Newcastle, Sydney and Port Kambla, and has been allotted a berth at the Queen’s Wharf. PIAKO LEAVES PLYMOUTH.—CabIe advice states that the New Zealand Shipping Company’s steamer Piako, which sailed from Liverpool on August 17, cleared Plymouth last Thursdav in continuation of her voyage to Auckland. Wellington. Lyttelton, Dunedin and Bluff. She is scheduled to reach Auckland on September 30. SVOLDER REPORTS.—According to a radio message received by Henderson and Macf aria ne, the tanker Svolder is expected to arrive in the stream at Auckland at noon on Sunday from San Pedro. T .h® ve?sel ks bringing a cargo of bulk od for the Texas Oil Company, and will discharge the local portion at the Western Wharf before proceeding to Wellington, Lyttelton and Dunedin. NEW YORK CARGO.—Dalgetv and Company advise that the motor-ship Oldham, which left New York on August 4 and Panama on August 12, is due at Wellington next Wednesday. The vessel will put out part cargo there and load for Madras and Calcutta, proceeding hence to Australia, to complete her discharge and her loading for Indian ports. GOLDEN WEST REPORTED.—The Oceanic and Oriental Navigation Company’s steamer Golden West, which left Lyttelton on July 25, is reported to have reached San FrarKft«c6 on Tuesday. She Is scheduled to leave San Francisco on September 26, and Los Angeles on October 1, for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton and Timaru. She is due at Auckland on October 27. WELLINGTON -PICTON SERVICE.— The local office of the Union Company has been advised that the Tanahine. which has been undergoing overhaul and survey at Wellington, resumes her running in the Wellington-Picton ferry service. and leaves Wellington on Monday for Picton. On arrival at Wellington oil Sunday from Picton the Xgaio, which has been relieving the Tamahine, will withdraw from the service. KARAMEA’S DEPARTURE. Tile Shaw, Savill and Albion motor-ship Karamea, which is at present discharging, general cargo from London at Prince’s Wharf, is expected to be dispatched tomorrow morning for Wellington and Napier to complete discharge. The vessel is afterwards scheduled to load at Napier, Timaru, Port Chalmers, New Plymouth, Wanganui. Wellington and Auckland tor London and West Coast ports of Great Britain. She is to sail finally from Auckland on October 5. L. D. Nathan and company, Limited are the local agents. MAILS REACH LONDON.—The acting chief postmaster has received advice that mails which left Auckland on July 30 per the R.NI.M.S. Aorangi, via Vancouver, arrived in London on August 2S„ CUMBERLAND SAILS TOMORROW. —At daylight tomorrow the local office of the New Zealand Shipping Company hopes to dispatch the Federal steamer Cumberland for London, Avonmouth, Liverpool and Glasgow, via Panama. ARLINGTON COURT DUE. —Although j no radio has been received by A. G. Frankham, Ltd., the steamer Arlington Court is due at Auckland any time now from Galveston. Texas. TASMANIA ARRIVING.—Radio advice received bv the local office of the New Zealand Shipping Company states that the steamer Tasmania is expected to arrive at Auckland at noon on Sunday from Liverpool. She is to berth at the Queen’s Wharf to unload the local portion of her cargo before proceeding to Wellington, Lyttelton and Dunedin to complete. PAKIPAKI DUE MONDAY. —Accord - to a radio message received by the local office of the New Zealand Shipping Company. the A. and A. Line’s chartered steamer Pakipaki is expected to arrive at Auckland at 9 a.m. on Monday from New York. The vessel is bringing general cargo for discharge at Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, Timaru and Dunedin. Owing to a fire which occurred at New York during loading operations a general average of 7 per cent, is being declared on the cargo which was already on board. PORT MELBOURNE'S LOADING.— The Commonwealth and Dominion Line 1 steamer Port Melbourne, en route from j London to Suva, Auckland, and Port Chalmers, is scheduled to reach Auckland on September 18. The vessel commences loading at Port Chalmers about September 30. and will load also at Timaru. Lyttelton. New Plymouth, Auckland, Gisborne, Napier and Wellington. She is to sail finally from Wellington on October 19 for London, via Montevideo. GUANO FROM WALPJOLE.—The French steamer Comamndant Destremau was due at Timaru last evening from Wa.l- - Island with a cargo of guano for discharge at Timaru and Wanganui. F rom V anganui the vessel proceeds to Westport for bunkers, thence she goes to Noumea. Messrs. Carr, Pountnev and Company. Ltd., agents for the vessel, expect her to make another trip to Walpole Island next month to load for Lvttelton and Port Chalmers. The Commandant Destremau was in Auckland in March 1928, when she unloaded Walpole Island guana. She is a vessel of 2.275 tons and was formerly the St. Paul, Sierra Nlorena and War Maxim.
