HORSES FOR SOUTH J. Eva has returned to Te Aroha from Paeroa to continue as a trainer. As ho is well and favourably known around here, having been associated with H. Jackson, will undergo his tuition in Eva’s hands. Off to Marton Trainer George Reid is to leave for tho Marton meeting on Monday. He is taking Glenstar and Trig, which are both looking in nice trim. Glenstar has not been accomplishing brilliant track work, while up to the last week or so the ground has not been firm enough for onlookers to get; a line as to Trig’s prospects. Track Work Tho track work on Thursday morning went to show that trainers here mean business this season. The two tracks outside of the course proper were in prime order. Gay Comet took on Grand Arch for half a mile, run in 54 1-5. the latter finishing in front. . \ two-year-old gelding by Lapidarjgave evid'enee of pace over a furlong. Serviceable gallops were executed by Marble King. Master Latour. The Lamb. Sir Russell, Unique and Dainty Arch. _ T . Belle Star, IVee Prince and Lucky Alice ran five furlongs in 1.8 2-5, all galloping freely over the last furlong. Crown Arch and Glenstar ran six furlongs in 1.24, the latter conceding weight and finishing just behind the Marble Arch gelding. ... . After going p. round. King Lap and Balfour sprinted a couple of furlongs, the former going more freely. Art Gallery and King Win. botn looking well, dashed over three furlongs in 40 1-5, finishing together. Both promise to come to hand early.
