DANGEROUS DOG
CYCLIST BITTEN IN LEG SENT TO FIJI Assured that the animal was being sent to Fiji and that complainant was claiming no damages, Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., imposed costs only when John. R. Barber was charged at the Police Court this morning with being the owner of a dangerous dog. Barber pleaded guilty and SeniorSergeant O’Grady said that James Livingstone was riding down Khyber Pass Road on a bicycle wh"n the dog, an Airedale, had rushed out and torn his trousers, inflicting a wound on the leg. It was explained that Barber did not consider the dog dangerous, but that after this incident he had immediately disposed of it and it was leaving for Fiji in a few days. Defendant was willing to pay any damages necessary. Livingstone claimed no damages. The dog had injured him only a little and his trousers were not nadiy torn as the animal’s teeth had only pierced the cloth. Barber was ordered to pay court costs and witnesses’ expenses, 10s.
BANKRUPT v RESTAURATEUR
DEFICIT OF MORE THAN £7,500 Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, Today. At a meeting of the creditors of Henry Wensley Piper, a former manager of Dainties, Ltd., and recently a restaurant proprietor, the statement showed debts totalling £9,000 and assets of £1,451. The property was put in the hands of the assignee to realise. Bankrupt said his restaurant business had decreased rapidly since Christmas.
