MORE PATENTS SOUGHT
REGISTRAR REVIEWS YEAR INCREASE IN APPLICATIONS (The SUN’S Parliamentary Reporter) PARLIAMENT BLDGS., Today. Increased business on the whole during the year ended March 31, 1929, is shown in the annual report of the Registrar of Patents, presented to Parliament today. A total of 3,434 applications fdf grants of letters-patent and for registration of designs and trade-marks was received during the year. A slight increase is shown in patent and design applications, while a decrease has occurred in the applications for registration of trade marks, 124 less being received than in 1927. The number of applications for patents received from countries beyond New Zealand shows a satisfactory increase, 1,040 being received during the year as compared with S7l in 1927. This figure is also 190 in excess of the average number of applications from oterseas for the years 1922 to 19°7 tinelusive).
