Signor Italo Balbo, the Undersecretary for stated that Italy would participate in the Schneider Cup race, because It regards it a duty a 3 sportsmen to do so. The Italians are using two machines. They are confident of success, and are of opinion that their machines will outpoint Britain’s on the sharp banking turns; but Signor Balbo states that the chances are nil, because Italy has lost its best airman. Captain Guiseppe Motta, and its fastest Macchi machine. Signor Balbo added tha the team was going to England to avoid the risk of the impression that Italy was piqued because a postponement was refused. A trainload of seaplanes left for England today. The six machines sent to England include the Macchi with which de Bernardi broke the world’s record, and another Macchi which has done 360 miles an hour.
