TIMBER RIGHTS
THE TONGARIRO BLOCK SAFEGUARDING THE PUBLIC Press Association WELLINGTON, Wednesday. A question dealing with the Tongariro timber area was recently asked in the House by Mr. F. Langstone (Waimarino), who wanted to know what steps the Government proposed to take to safeguard the interests or the Crown, the natives and the public in connection with the large timber block in the King Country, known as the Tongariro timber area. Mr. Langstone said a prospectus of a company which it was proposed to float in connection with the exploitation of the area referred to provided for a capital of £400,000, and stated that the estimated profits from royalties and transport charges in connection with the area referred to totalled £2,294,750.
The Prime Mininster, Sir Joseph Ward, replied today, stating the matter had been under the consideration of the Government and a statement would be made shortly.
