OVERDUE LEVIES

HIGHER INTEREST SOUGHT Today an amendment bill on behalf of the Auckland and Suburban Drainage Board will be presented to the Local Bills Committee of the House of Representatives. Under the amendment the board will be empowered to charge the current bank Interest rate on overdue levies on contributing bodies, instead of 6 per cent., which is the maximum the boari can now impose. The board was advised last evening that Mr. M. J. Savage, M.P., will take charge of the Bill during its passage through the House. Mr. A. J. Entrican mentioned that the Mayor, Mr. Geo. Baildon, had gone to Wellington and would be able to deal with any questions relating to the amendment.
