ABDUCTION CHARGE

YOUNG GIRL TAKEN AWAY PROSECUTION AT NELSON (From Our Own Correspondent) NELSON, Today. Charged with unlawfully taking a girl aged 16 years and six months from the possession of and against the will of her father, Deveillie Thomas Martin Ellis Corcoran appeared in the Nelson Police Court yesterday. The girl gave evidence that last Sunday accused took her to an hotel at Stoke, where they had some drinks. Later accused asked her to go away with him and she agreed. Next day her father found them. Under crossexamination she said that she had been willing to go with accused. A detective described an interview he had with accused. He had admitted asking the girl to go with him, but had said that at the time he was under the influence of drink. Decision was reserved.
