NORTHERN RUGBY REPS. TO TRAVEL SOUTH

i TEAM MANAGER REPORTS The North Auckland Rugby re- | presentative side which ran Auckland so close last Saturday at* Dargaville will most probably be seen in action at Eden Park next Saturday week. An invitation for a return match in Auckland has been sent North by the union, according to the decision of the Management Committee of the Auckland Rugby Union, which met last evening, Mr. A. Belcher presiding. The Naw Zealand Union advised that the reinstatements of Norgrove, Sheddon and Poyntor, recommended by the Auckland Union, had been granted. The Technical Old Boys senior grade team was given permission to travel to Papakura next Saturday to play the Manukau Sub-union representatives, the committee also agreeing to meet part expenses. A telegram dated last Tuesday was received from the New Zealand Union appointing Mr. H. J. McKenzie, of Wairarapa, as referee of the Auckland v Canterbury game. There was no comment by the committee, except that Mr. J. Muir pointed out that Mr. McKenzie’s appointment had been published in a Wairarapa newspaper four days before the Auckland Union had been notified. Confirming the Junior Management Board’s report, permission was given two teams to travel:—Manukau Subunion junior representatives to Papakura on September 14; Grammar fourth grade to Hamilton on Saturday with Mr. L. Schnauer as manager. Praise of the manner in which the Auckland team had been entertained in Dargaville was expressed in Mr. J. Muir’s report of the trip North last Saturday. The North Auckland oificials were very satisfied with the experiment of playing the game at Dargaville, where the gate amounted to £165. A letter of thanks was sent to the executive of the Northern Wairoa Union through the North Auckland Union for the manner in which the Aucklanders had been entertained. Mr. P. The committee decided to circularise the New Zealand Union and other unions throughout New Zealand, submitting the names of Auckland referees eligible to control representative and international matches.
