FINANCIAL RETURNS (Special to THE SUN) TE AWAMUTU, Wednesday. In its fourteenth annual report, the committee of the Waipa Racing Club points out that as a result of a favourable race meeting, and more revenue derived from training and grazing fees than previously, the credit balance for the year is £240 more than last year, making a total of £6lB 2s. An agreement to purchase six additional acres for the purpose of a motor paddock was entered into, and it is expected that the purchase will shortly be completed. Since the annual meeting, the Auckland Racing Club’s Breeders’ Association, which is being wound up, has refunded to the club the sum of £l4O 11s. 9d. being 17s 3d in the £ of the £163 paid by the club on account of the stallion account, and a further amount will be paid as soon as more of the outstanding accounts are collected. A further attempt was again made this year for a permit for a second day, but in spite of the good case that was put up by the club, the attempt was unsuccessful. The club's profit and loss account | shows the following receipts:—Subscriptions, £3ll 17s; totalisator tax refund, £250; training fees, £152; rent i of stables, £79 10s; grazing account, [ £123 4s 3d; donations, £2 2s; and | profit on the meeting account, £972 I 19s 4d —total, £1,891 12s 7d. Princi- ! pal items of expenditure were:—lnterest, £473 Is Id; wages and salaries, £3ll 4s; general expenses, £7l 4s 2d; rates, £97 16s 3d; insurances, £3l 10s 7d; depreciation written off, £194 2s; subscriptions written off. £47 ss; nomination and acceptance fees written off, £2B 4s; repairs and maintenance, £9 14s 7d; leaving a profit of £627 11s. Other details show that £1,120 was given in stakes; £1,079 14s was paid in dividend tax; £599 15s as totalisator tax; £SO 10s 8d as amusement tax; and £56 as stakes tax. Printing and advertising cost £2lO Is 9d; wages, £lO7 2s 6d; refreshments, £66 2s 7d: conference levies, £4O; band, £lO 10s; general expenses, £34 2s Id; accommodation, £l3 Is lid; ambulance. £2 2s 6d. Gate money received amounted to £528 8s 9d; totalisator, £2,099 2s 6d; dividend tax, £1,079 14s; stakes tax, £56: nomination and acceptance fees, £327; race card sales, £157 17s Id. booth rights. £109; and fines, £5.
