ASSAULTED MOTHER
PERSUADED BY ANOTHER WOMAN YOUNG MAN FINED £5 Press Association PALMERSTON N., Today. Appearing before the magistrate today, Frederick George Paulsen, who was remanded on heavy bail on Monday, when a suggestion was made tha,t depositions might have to be taken, pleaded guilty to a charge of aggravated assault on his mother. Senior-Sergeant Whitehouse said that at the instigation of another woman, who had been ordered out of the house, Paulsen attacked his mother. When she sought to defend herself with a stick, she suffered cuts on her wrist, head, and an injured knee, so tl%at she had been in hospital another week. Defendant had borne a good character, being practically the sole support of his mother, and it was suggested that a fine might meet the case. Mr. J. L. Stout, S.M., imposed a fine of £5.
