Sir George Fowlds, who lias been visiting Palmerston North, returned tc Auckland this morning by the Limited. Mr. R. B. Hammond reached Auckland this morning from Wellington by the Limited. Mr. H. Barlow, of Christchurch, arrived from the South this morning on the Limited. Mr. and Mrs. Calder McKay were among the arrivals on this morning’s Limited from Wellington. Mr. C. F. Gardner. Mayor of Now Lynn, is spending a few days’ holiday in Rotorua with his family. Captain R. C. Hammond, manager‘of the Northern Steamship Company, travelled to Wellington by train last evening. Mr. J- F. Mackley. of the Atlantic Union Oil Company, arrived from Wellington by the Limited this morning. The Hons. G. F. Garland. \V. Stewart, V. H. Reed and W. H. Mclntyre, M.L.C.’s, left by train for Wellington last evening. The Rev. 11. E. Jones, formerly vicar of Frankton, has been appointed home missionary at Port Aliuriri, Napier, by the Presbyterian Church. Sergeant M. J. An gland, who is in charge of the wharf police station, is at present away on annual leave, and his place is being taken by Sergeant E. Burnett. Mr. G. Baildon, Mayor of Auckland, will depart for Wellington this evening by train to give evidence before the Local Bills Committee cf 'the House of Representatives. Mr. K. K. Riminer and Mrs. Rimmer, of the Sudan United Mission, returned to Auckland by the Maheno this morning. They are staying with Mr. s. L. I*. Rimmer, Fairview Road, Mount Eden. Mr. R. A. Falla, who lias been appointed a biologist with the Mawson Antarctic Expedition, left for Wellington last evening. He will leave Wellington for Sydney by the Makura on Friday. He will then journey by the Nestor to Capetown, where members of the expedition will embark on the Discovery. Final departure will be taken from Capetown at the beginning of October.
