MORRINSVILLE NOTES
The Morrinsville Rugby Union’s junior competion has been won by Kereone, with United in second place.
Mr. J. Wilson, of New Plymouth, has purchased Mr. S. Burge’s farm oi SO acres at Motumaobo. Mr. J. McNaughton has sold his farm of 01 acres at Piako to Mr. J. Howell, a recent arrival from Australia.
In the annual report on the Police Force presented to Parliament, the Commissioner recommends the appointment of 30 extra constables to meet the “many demands for increased police protection throughout the Dominion.” It is thought that this is an indication that the extra constable so long needed at Morrinsville is to b« appointed.
The inaugural meeting of the Independent Order of Rechabites was held on Monday evening, and was well attended by members of other tents resident in the district. Representatives from Rosebud, Huntly, Hope of Hamilton, and Star of Cambridge Tents were also present. The district deputy ruler, Bro. B. Gardner, of Huntly, presided. and associated with him were the district secretary, Bro. D. M. A. Bodley. of Auckland, and Bro. H. Gardner, of Hamilton, members of the district executive. Pressure of business prevented the District Chief Ruler, Bro. E. Simon, from attendance, and a letter of greeting and congratulation was read from that officer. The election of officers resulted: —Chief Ruler, Bro. W. T. Smith; Deputy Ruler, Sister B. Thompson: Past Chief Ruler, Bro. A. Gibbs: secretary and treasurer, Bro. G. E. Beswick: steward, Bro. 11. Riley; Levite. Bro. Ron. West: Guardian, Bro. E. H. Dbuglas; auditors, Sister O. E. Best ami Bro. A. Gibbs: trustees, Bros. W. T. Smith and H. Riley.
