“FLORADORA”
HIS MAJESTY’S ON FRIDAY It would be difficult to say whether it is the fame of the Auckland Amateur Operatic Society, or of the musical comedy they are about to produce at His Majesty’s, which has stirred up such public interest since the announcement of this entertainment. There is no doubt that Aucklanders look forward to a reappearance of the amateurs, and it is pleasing to see a few favourites, including G. C. Lyttelton, Ernest Snell, Frank Martin, Len Keven, and Bob Fenwick to the fore again.. It will be interesting to have the coveted part of Dolores played by a new star, Verner Wishart, while her supports include Hope Asher, Winifred Crosher, Audrey Perry, and Doreen D’Authreau, and Dorothy Steel as premiere danseuse. As for the production, “Floradora” is one of the brightest, full of gay music, and guaranteed to carry all patrons beyond their cares. A short season of eight nights only begins next Friday.
