“BABES IN THE WOOD”
PANTOMIME AT MAJESTIC SCHOOL HOLIDAY TREAT During the school holidays this week hundreds of children have enjoyed the gorgeous little pantomime, “Babes in the Wood/’ at the Majestic Theatre. Miss Lillian O’Leary has trained over 50 children for the dancing scenes, and the well-remembered old tale of the babes is charmingly told by some clever little people. Patricia Boyle is Baby Bunting, Koanui Symeon is Baby Brighteyes, May Akersten is Robin Hood, Loma Kay is Maid Marian, Gladys Cain is Cock Robin, Olga Elsmore is Friar Tuck and Kathleen Boyle is Dame Trot. Pick and Alf, ever their entertaining and amusing selves, are the bold robbers. There are lots of songs and duets by the players and some really pretty dances by the children. There is a rainbow ballet, Dutch lullaby, one-step ballet, hunting ballet and —best of all—a bird ballet by the Midget Moselles and Tiny Tots. “Babes in the Wood” is quite the best pantomime put on by the Majestic during any of the school holidays, and is a real treat for the children. The voices of all 'the children can be heard in all parts of the theatre.
