HUNT FIXTURE
TOMORROW AT DANNEVIRKE A BRIEF REVIEW The annual race meeting or the Dannevirke Hunt Club is to be held at Dannevirke tomorrow, and will really fulfil the place of the second day of the Dannevirke Racing Club s fixture, held today. Practically the same fields will be seen out tomorrow, so that not a great deal can be said when it comes to making suggestions as to horses likely to run well. ■ However, there is a little new blood to be seen in action tomorrow. Particularlv is this the case in the Taka- | pan Novice Stakes, in which there are ei-lit maiden performers that were nor ; paid up for yesterday, and which will most probably see the j:>ost. They arc: Killogie. Prince Alert, Rioghail. Mah ora. Accora. TVhenuatonga. Rule Britannia and Trisogne. Perhaps the j best of this lot of newcomers will be Mahora. This gelding, by Lackham , from Morzonia. showed a good deal uf j pace in the Trial at Trenthani last < month, and if he has come along any I since then he should be able to hold . his own with the best of the beaten | division today wlio are also engaged | again tomorrow. Birkbeck’s Good Chance Another newcomer tomorrow is the j Riccarton winner. Birkbeck, who tops the list in the Hunt Cup. The owner relied upon Alaric for today’s cross- j country race, and if the chestnut has come to no harm from this race both j may be started in the Hunt Cup. This ; bracket pair wlil be extremely difficult j to beat too. While the hack hurdlers have their say today, there will also be another i similar race tomorrow, and in addition a Hunters’ Hurdles. Therein figures 1 that promising mare Princess Eliza- ! beth. who has run a fourth and then ; two wins over the sticks in as many ! starts. She has been penalised a stone j for her win last Saturday, but she I should be improving all the time. The ; danger to her may come from Wil- ‘ moreana. The remainder of the fields are simi- i lar to those seen out today, and backers will therefore be guided in this con- r nection by today’s results. The acceptances for tomorrow, together with the starting times, are as • follow: -| -| 4 ~ ASIICOTT HUNTERS’ X X . X hurdles Of £75; 15 miles.
Out For a Spell The Riccarton gelding Kaikahu has been sent to his owner’s propertv it Kaituna for a six months’ spell. The veteran gelding showed no ill effects from his three races at the National meeting, and he should be capable of winning more money next winter. Jockeys’ Mounts L. Dulieu will be riding at Danneyirke today and tomorrow, and following on the two meetings there will go on to New Plymouth for the Taranaki Hunt fixture, where he is to carrv out engagements on I-luirangi Girl, Michael Shimoose and Quillfire (twice). il. Dulieu is to have the mounts on Waitaunalia, Just John. Potency and Omeo at the same meeting.
