ONEHUNGA LOAN PROPOSAL BOROUGH COUNCIL MEETS Following a suggestion by the One-hunga-Manukau Chamber of Commerce. the Onehunga Borough Council, at a meeting last evening, decided to include in its suggested loan of £IOO,OOO a further sum to build a women’s rest-room in Church Street. A further amount for the erection of a kindergarten school in brick on the same site will be included, subject to the approval of the Kindergarten School Committee. On the motion of Cr. W. C. Hill, it was decided to request the PostmasterGeneral to erect a coin-in-slot telephone cabinet outside the Onehunga Post Office.The director of the Pathological Department of the Auckland Hospital forwarded a satisfactory report on the periodical bacteriological examination of the borough water supply. The borough’s share of the petrol-tax collected for the June quarter amounted to £321 Is Sd. * The traffic inspector, Mr. G. Crichton, recommended that traffic warrants the installation of “silent policemen” at the intersections of Arthur. Church and Princes Streets. and also at Mangere Bridge. The question was referred to the Streets committee for a report.
