FOOTBALL HAXCE Fully 120 couples took the floor at the dance given last Wednesday evening in honour of the Hawke’s Bay footballers. The hall was decorated in the colours of the Hora Hora Football Club, maroon and gold, and the black and white of the visitors. During the evening Mr. C. J. Molloy, president of the Hora Hora Club, extended a hearty welcome to the visitors on behalf of the club. The Mayor, Mr. W. Jones, also spoke on behalf of the townspeople. Gillies, Otahuhu. was the scene of a delightfully gay party on Saturday evening, when the coming-of-ago of Miss Eileen Gilfedder was celebrated. The rooms were prettily decorated in gold and masses of golden daffodils and asparagus fern. Musical items wero contributed by Mrs. A. Murdoch and Mr. J. E. Gillies, and solo dances were given by Miss Gilfedder. A very pleasant evening was spent in dancing and cards. In proposing the health of Miss Gilfedder, Mi*. Gillies presented their guest with a key of the door. Mr. George Baildon responded on behalf of Miss Gilfedder. Mrs. Gillies received the guests wearing a paon blue sequinned georgette gown. Miss Gilfedder was frocked in cherry crepe de chine and gold lace, and she carried a golden bouquet.
