SOME INTERESTING WORK BUSY SCENES THIS MORNING Attracted by the fine weather and in anticipation cf witnessing interesting work in view of the benefit meeting on Saturday, there was a good attendance of spectators at Alexandra Park th:s morning. Tho track after being- well harrowed was in nice order, although the clay footing was not conducive to fast times. Nevertheless several horses put up attractive performances, which should make their prospects of success rosy-hued. An Interesting Bout The principal essay was a bout in ! which Gold Jacket (L. McMahon), Dil- i lon lluon (J. Smith), Jewel Pointer (A. I Julian) and Warplane (J. Shaw) picked up Torpedo Huon (A. Bryce) at the ten-furlong peg, after the latter had traversed six furlongs on his lonesome Warplane quickly dashed to the lead, but at the entrance to the straight Dillon Huon assumed command, the others being in close formation. When the half-mile post was reached the pace was clapped on and in a good rattle up the straight Gold Jacket and Jewel Pointer closed on Dillon Huon, tho trio passing the post together. Arachne (J. Shaw) was given a couple of rounds at a sound clip with a nice dash home from the three-fur-long peg. Lord Nepean (W. Willetts) was going nicely for a mile, where he tangled and. refusing to strike a correct gait again, was not persevered with. Sebisca (G. Mitchell) worked for tho major portion of two miles at a solid clip, but put in a bad break in tli final circuit which marred the effort. Two in Form Carmel (J. Shaw) and Native Prince (C. Fairman), the latter unhoppled, jumped off at the mile and a-quarter disc. Native Prince going to the front. The position was unchanged till the straight was entered, where Native Prince stumbled and Carmel came on to finish a fast half-mile in good style. Tradesman (S. Roe) trotted over two miles without making a mistake, and his exhibition won him many friends. He was inclined to climb over the final furlong. Golden Gate (C. L. Lee), without essaying anything outstanding in the way of time, trotted solidly over three circuits. and over the last mile had Mountain Dell (A. Mitchell) as a companion. The latter appeared anxious to go the pace. Goldman Goes Well Goldman (S. Roe), Polly’s Picture (G. Mitchell), Uncle Bert (W. Kerr) went off at the two-mile post, the latter quicklv opening up a big gap. Hohora (L. McMahon) joined issue with four furlongs gone, and at the mile peg Folly’s Picture was in the lead. The field was bunched half a mile from home, and in the final quarter Goldman ranged beside Polly's Picture and going in good style beat her to the box, with Hohora handy. _ , Margaret Wallace (Ted Sandall), after traversing half a mile, was picked up by First Sight (J. McKendrick), and the pace was increased for the next circuit. Three furlongs from home, t Margaret Wallace appeared to have ; the three-year-old’s measure, but in ; the final dash, the filly came again to i be on terms at the wire. A big batch of young trotters and | pacers wore given useful exercise, and several shaped as if they will be able to deliver the goods later on in the season.
