WORK AT ARAPUNI

TRIAL OF NO. 2 GENERATOR SPILLWAY EROSION CHECKED (From Our Own Correspondent) HAMILTON, Today. The second power unit at Arapuni has been undergoing trial runs and the staff has begun the drying out of the generator. The installation of the electrical plant at the power-house has been carried out under the supervision of Mr. Y. Overgaard, and the whole unit will probably be ready for service in about a month’s time. A flow calculated at 1,000 cubic feet a second has been taken through No. 1 penstock tunnel in the last few days in order to divert some of the water from the spillway and, with the receding of the flood waters in the Waikato River, the erosion below the spillwav has been checked.
