AUCKLAND CLUB The Auckland Cycle Club advanced its series of road races a further stage !on Saturday, when it decided a 13.8miles event for its members. A number of riders are on the sick list, thus accounting for the small field that attended. Although overhead conditions were ideal, the rosid was rather greasy, therefore the times returned were well outside the record. The only incident during the race was when F. Lowndes fell, bringing down Archer and Potter. Lowndes received severe cuts and gravel rash. The race resulted in a triumph for the two limit bunches. In the sprint to the line, Henderson jumped first, but Ilealey and Clarke came away to fight out the finish. Healey held the lead long enough to receive the judge’s decision by half a wheel from Clarke. Henderson was a length away third, with Slack close up fourth. In the sprint for fastest time, Harcourt beat Slater Hayes by three lengths. Results were: IC. Healey, 4min 1 R. Clarke, 3min 30sec .... 2 J. Henderson, 3min 30sec .. 3 C. Slack, 4min 4 Time of race, 35min 22sec. Fastest time, 34min 42sec. MANUKAU CLUB The Manukau Amateur Cycle Club held two more races last Saturday afternoon at Mangere Central, a 5A- j miles event for the juniors, and a 17miles race for the seniors. In both races the limit men dominated throughout. The junior race resulted: D. Milne, 2min 1 C. Beart, 2min 2 H. Gordon, 2min 3 Fastest time was gained by c. Yule, off scratch, who did the journey in 15min 13sec. The entries received from the senior riders will be given to the earthquake fund. A good field of 34 competed. Results were: A v Reed, smin 20sec 1 E. Avery, smin 20sec .... 2 IT. Camp, smin 20sec .... 3 W. Clarke, 6min SOsec . . 4 L. Roberts gained time honours with 43min 51sec. AUSTRALIAN TITLE GOULD WINS 100 MILES ROAD RACE (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) SYDNEY. Sunday. The 100 miles amateur cycle road race championship of Australia yesterday was won by J. L. Gould (Xew South Wales) in 5h 9m 325. W. McLaughlin (Victoria) was runner-up in oh 10m 11s. Eight riders started.
