BASKETBALL
REPRESENTATIVE TEAM GOES SOUTH SATURDAY’S MATCHES Senior basketball play on Saturday afternoon was not marked by any outstanding play. The season is drawing to a close and interest seems to be flagging a little. Last night the representative team left for Christchurch, where the New Zealand Basketball Association’s annual tournament starts on Wednesday next. Two of the original reps, were unable to go with the team. They are Misses N. Gallaher and I. Totman, whose places have been filled by Misses E. Wann and P. Norris respectively. Miss J. Mueller is captain of the side and Miss F. Lee, president of the Auckland Basketball Association, has gone with the team as manager. On Saturday afternoon inter-club matches were advanced a stage further in all grades. Results: Senior Grade. —Varsity Blues 21, Killarua 11; Waratah 21, Y.W.C.A. 11. Second Grade.—Seddon 12, Y.W.C.A. 7; Bdendale 2S, Varsity A 2; Seddon 11, Grammar B 10; Edendale 10, Grammar A 3; Victoria 14, Lynndale 4; Lynndale 10, Grammar B 8. Third Grade.—Surrey Hills 13, Otahuhu 11; Rata 13, Wellesley 4; Killarua 10, Wesley 6; Rata 21, Y.W.C.A. 4; “New Zealand Herald,” 10, Turners and Growers 2. Fourth Grade.—Y.W.C.A. B 7, Lynndale 6; Turners and Growers 13, Seddon 7: Y.W.C.A. A 5, McKenzie’s Ltd. 1; Victoria 9, Y.W.C.A. B 3; Manukau 13, Papatoetoe 9; Suburbs 8, Victoria 6. Fifth Grade.—Otahuhu 12, Papatoetoe St. David's Guides 6.
