CENTENARIANS ALL

LONGER LIFE IS THE AIM OF BRITISH CLUB MOTTO: “AVOID EXCESSES” (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) Reed. 9.5 a.m. LONDON, Friday. Five hundred Londoners joined the Centenarian Club, pledged by example and precept to further the cause of enabling everyone to become a centenarian. The Club’s researches show that about 36 men and 109 women are centenarians in England and Scotland, and 42 men and 74 women in the Irish Free State. The society’s motto is “Avoid excesses.” The founders are convinced that generous expansion of the present average span of life is possible if people eat sparingly all good foods, limit alcohol and smokes, and sleep eight hours. Then there is every reason to believe that they will not only reach the century, but also become ablebodied clear-minded centenarians.
