NOT A CARPET DISPLAY.- —This is not the interior of a carpet factory, but of a whale. The monster has just been cut open to show the big bone running through the centre of his body. The carcase arid bone will be cut into small pieces and thrown into the blubber and bone boilers, where every vestige of oil will be removed and stored in tanks. No part of the whale is wasted. Formerly the residue after the boilings was kept and made into guano, but the catches made in the Ross Sea are so great that there is no room to store the guano and it is thrown overboard.
