TWELVE INCHES OF HAIL

STORM NEAR CAMBRIDGE (From Our Oxen Correspondent) CAMBRIDGE, Today. A phenomenal hailstorm occurred last night in the Cambridge district. In the town and the main part of the district the storm was only light, but in one small area in Fencourt, near Cambridge, about two or three acres were covered with hailstones this morning to a depth of nearly a foot. Several hours after sunrise the hail was still many inches thick. Such a remarkable occurrence has never before been experienced in this district. Settlers in the locality were keenly interested. Well over six inches of rain lias already fallen in August, and the country is very wet. However, it has been mild for the past week or more, and farmers are pleased -with the growth of the grass.
