SOCIAL EVENING

j OTAHUHU RETURNED SOLDIERS There was a large attendance ; members and friends of the Otahohu Returned Soldiers' Social Club at the ! annual ladies' night held in the Otajhuhu Public Hall on Monday evening | An enjoyable programme of dance 2 music was provided by Miss E. Moffat, Messrs. J. Ayres, W. Dinison and Douglas. Dance numbers were played bv Rowe's Ragtime Orchestra. The duties of masters of ceremonies were carried out by Messrs. A. T. McLaren, G. V. Pearce and Y\*. Wells. During the evening. Padre C. B \\* Seton. president of the club, extended a cordial welcome to the large gathering, and referred to the excellent services given by the club. Later in the evening he presented Miss Moffat with a memento in recognition of her ser- | vices to the club. Gaiety was added to the function with a Monte Carlo waltz. The wini tiers were Miss Cross and Mr. Elliotr A spot waltz was won by Mrs. Black- , burn and Mr. C. Jameson. More than 100 enthusiasts competed i in the progressive five hundred tournament. After a series of very keenly - i contested games the following were adjudged the winners:—Mrs. West, ' junr., first prize; Mrs. Porritt. second; j Mrs. A. Pearce, third: Mrs. Patterson* consolation; Mr. Sanderson, first; Mr! W. Baxter, second: Mr. A. Campbell] third; Mr. Bosun, consolation.
