“PUPPETS”
ST. JAMES THEATRE Featuring humorous sketches and snappy song and dance numbers, “Puppets,” the title given to the show which is now being staged at St. James Theatre by Frank O’Brian and his happy band of revellers, rivals closely any of the pleasingly entertaining programmes previously staged during this season. Off and on. and more often on than off, Frank O’Brian dawdles out on to the stage, costumed in his usual ridiculous fashion to please the audience with his clever wit and dancing antics. He is the centre of several hilarious sketches, and does not forget to sing some of his popular ditties. * Popular Janice Hart, a versatile artist, leads the feminine section of the company in various numbers, in which Marie Ward, Mabelle Morgan and Iris Gumbley are strong in support. Joe Hudson and Eric Masters do good work in helping Frank O'Brian with his numerous coitiedy turns. Although rather short, that which can be classed as one of the star items is the appearance of Phyllis Sambrook, Roma Ivel and Ernie Brooks as “Pullman Porters.” Following a snappy song the trio does various dancing turns, featuring flips and clever acrobatic stunts, which last evening called for prolonged applause.
