TRADE WITH CANADA
OVER 30 PER CENT. INCREASE MORE BUTTER EXPORTED (The SUN’S Parliamentary Reporter) WELLINGTON, Today. The annual report of the Department of Industries and Commerce reveals the way in which New Zealand’s trade with Canada has grown. The report was presented to Parliament yesterday. The report says: “Our trade with Canada continues to expand, and the year’s exports proved to be a record, both in volume and value. In last year’s report it was pointed out that there was an increase of just over 100 per cent, in the value of the exports, and for the financial year just past the figures show a further large increase, the comparable values being £2,065,222 for 1927-2 S, and £2,866,623 for 1928-29, an increase of 38.80 per cent. Canada now ranks fourth in importance in her purchases of New Zealand products. “The value of the trade with Canada during the last four years was as follows:—l92s, exports to Canada, £423,068: imports from Canada, £3,916,237; 1926, £561,737 and £3,431,533; 1927, £1,666,598 and £2,739,826; £3,258,828. The statistics show that the .value of the butter exported to Canada has grown as follow: 1925, £26,360: 1926, £230.562; 1927, £889,727; 1925, £1,565,646.”
