YACHT PRIZE NIGHT

AKARANA CLUB FUNCTION MANY VALUABLE TROPHIES There was an assembly of over 350 when the Akarana Yacht Club held its annual prize distribution ceremony and dance in the clubhouse. Mechanics’ Bay, last evening. The commodore, Mr. T. McKay, presided. Representatives from all Waitemata and Manukau yacht and power-boat clubs were present. In making the presentations Captain H. H. Sergeant, harbourmaster at Auckland, referred to the happy relations existing between the Harbour Board and yachtsmen. He assured the club that any request would be sympathetically considered. A full list of prize winner* was published in Tuesdays Sun. Owing to five boats tieing for the championship flag with 3 points each, Ariki, Maraetea, Opah, Rakoa and Starioch. straws were drawn to decide the winner, and Starioch proved the lucky boat. The prizes made a striking display and included many valuable cups and trophies.
