RICHER THAN WAIHI MINE
MORRINSVILLE-MATAMATA DISTRICT WEALTH FROM DAIRYING (From Our Own Correspondent J MORRINSVILLE, Tuesday. “The dairy output for the year for the Morrinsville district should be greater than that of the Waihi goldmine in its palmiest days,” says a prominent dairy official. Returns from the various companies of the Morrinsville, Matamata and Putaruru districts show that the total tonnage of dairy produce from those districts totalled 17,165 tons, of a value of £1,552.000. This is an increase of 2,287 tons, and nearly £250,000 over the previous season. There are 12 factories operating, while proprietary companies and outside cooperative concerns also draw supplies from this fertile district. The details of the tonnage are: Butter, 5,592 tons: cheese, 3,594 tons; milk powder and condensed milk, 4,639 tons; cream to Ngongotaha factory, 339 tons.

They are as follow:—Matamata, 14,929 tons; Putaruru, 11,966 tons; Morrinsville, 10.959 tons; Waitoa, 6,204 tons. The only other station in the province which handled over 10,000 tons was Cambridge.
