MOTOR DEAL
FALSE PRETENCES CHARGE AGAINST MECHANIC That he sold a car which he stated to ho his property, whereas he held it under a hire-purchase agreement, was alleged against Leonard Ernest Smith, a mechanic, aged 29, at the Police Court this morning. Smith was charged with obtaining £2O from Maxwell Harland Walker at Heriot, Otago, on May IS by false pretepees. On the application of Chief-Detec-tive Hammond, a remand was made for a weeki Mr. McLiver asked for bail, which was fixed in one surety of £SO.
