WEEK-END EXCURSION
FARES TO ROTORUA RAILWAYS INNOVATION Week-end excursion rates to Rotor.!a.J^ the latest innovation of the Railv*aj Department, and one which should bring the thermal centre within easv reach of many Aucklanders. The excursion fares will operate from Friday, August 23, to Friday, October -J. They will be issued on Fridays and Saturdays of each week and will be available for return up to a week later Tickets will be obtainable from Auckland, Swanson, Papakura and intermediate stations. If this scheme is a success, the time of issuing such tickets will be extended. Figures are to be closely checked during the time the excursion rates are available so that the department can estimate the number of who take advantage of the scheme. From tomorrow the school holiday excursion fares will come into operation. and bookings have been fair), heavy for the holiday resorts. During the school holiday periods parents can also travel at reduced rates with their families. This scheme was initiated some time ago and has proved to be very popular. The principal resorts to which parents and their children go are Rotorua and Russell, but many go farther afield.
