NURSES HONOURED
MEDALS FOR HOSPITAL STAFF MEMBERS “KIND TO HER PATIENTS” A reputation for unflagging kindness to patients is held by Nurse Dorothy M. Hoad, of the Auckland Hospital, according to the chairman of the board, Mr. W. Wallace, who presented her with a silver medal, won in the May nurses* examinations. “I am particularly pleased to make this presentation,” said Mr. Wallace during the simple little ceremony, held as part of the board's meeting yesterday. ‘‘Miss Hoad has been especially good to her patients, and that is a feature of nursing that comes before even the theoretical side. It is only a silver medal, but a very pretty one, and you may be proud to wear it.” Two other nurses—Misses Eileen Macdonald and Jeanette M. Hall—were presented with gold medals, won in the nurses* examinations for November, 1928, and May, 1929, respectively. They were pinned to the coats of the nurses by the lady superintendent. Referring to the honour earned hv N'urse Hall, Mr. Wallace said that she had done very good work and should go far in her profession, particularly as she held a B.A. degree. He was pleased with the excellent performance of both nurses because, in past years, he had been disappointed by the fact that no staff members had 4 topped the State examinations.
