WORLD’S GREATEST SPEED.— Flight-Lieut. D. F. W. Atcherley, who attained the world's greatest speed, of 350 miles an hour, over the Schneider Cup course at Calshot yesterday.
TREACHEROUS HAIRPIN BENDS were veritable death-traps to drivers in the international tourist trophy race at Belfast. Taking seemingly impossible risks, the daredevil, Carriciola, won the 400- mile test, averaging 72.8 m.p.h. The picture shows a sharp corner at Dundonald, one of the most dangerous on the course.
THE BIG ACCUMULATION OF BARNACLES, which formerly clung to the hull of the Hinemoa, will now have find a new home. The former Government steamer is at present refitting in Calliope Dock for the Bluff-West Coast Sounds service.
